How to Follow-Up
ON-SITE
RECRUITING/RESUME REFERRAL
On-site
interviewing provides an opportunity to meet with employers at their
facility. The majority of recruiters prefer this option. A date
when resumes and cover letters are due will be announced in CareerLink.
Candidates apply online via CareerLink. Career Services sends the
resumes and cover letters electronically to the recruiting company
for screening. The company reviews resumes and cover letters to
determine which candidates they would like to interview.
Candidates selected for interviews are notified by either Career
Services or the recruiting company. An interview will be scheduled
at the company's facility at a mutually convenient time.
If
you haven't heard from the company within seven to ten days of the
resume submission deadline call to discuss the status of your application
and the possibility of arranging an interview.
CAMPUS INTERVIEWING
Prescreening - Some companies review resumes in advance to determine
which candidates they would like to interview. A date when resumes
and cover letters are due will be announced in CareerLink. Candidates
selected for interviews are notified by Career Services and an interview
time is scheduled.
Open Sign-Up - All interested candidates may sign-up for an
interview in CareerLink. Sign-up continues on a first-come, first-served
basis until the schedule is filled. A resume must be submitted online
when signing up for an interview.
INFORMATION TABLES
A table
is set up in Case Center for a representative of the recruiting
organization to distribute company literature and answer questions
about the company, their hiring policies and available positions.
INFORMATION SESSIONS
Information
sessions are presentations given by a company recruiting on campus.
The recruiter provides extensive information about the company and
the positions for which they are interviewing. There is time available
for questions and answers. We strongly recommend that you attend
if you are considering interviewing with the company.
Please note: Career Services staff does not necessarily endorse
organizations in our recruitment program. We are obligated to affiliate
with any employer that approaches us in good faith, indicates a
desire to recruit our candidates and signs our "non-discrimination"
clause. Candidates are expected to research employers, assess their
financial standing and decide whether to apply for positions. Please
refer to our handout on "Researching
Employers" for some suggestions and ask a staff member
if you need assistance. |
