participants with varying physical disabilities and chronic illnesses.
As a result you will become familiar with all types of adaptive
equipment, medical information, and ways to adapt programs to meet
the needs of the participant. Internship is physically, mentally
and emotionally demanding. NOT typical 9-5 hours. Days are long,
challenging, and rewarding. 3 weeks in a cabin life experience doing
assessment, goal and objective development, and daily documentation;
opportunities to lead, shadow, or facilitate activities depending
on skill level in six program areas; opportunities to coordinate
a short program for teens; and opportunities to work with groups

Volunteers provide daily activities including art, music and creative
play while the children are awaiting their appearance in court.
Work directly with children and their caretakers in a court environment.
Children are here because of allegations of abuse or neglect. Free
Arts for Abused Children provides training for volunteers to bring
creative activities to the families and children while they await
their hearings. Volunteers and interns share a wide range of art
projects with the children.
Free Arts for Abused Children (FAAC) is a registered non-profit
organization dedicated to bringing the healing power of creative
art activities to young victims of child abuse and neglect in the
dependency court systems. This is a very challenging and rewarding
experience. Qualifies for Social Work, Art, Psychology, Education,
and Child Development majors as well as others. Bring your own program
requirements and we will assist you. Willing to work with schedules
and students with diverse majors.
Qualifications:
Some experience and comfort working with children helpful. Art background
helpful but not necessary.
