The choices you make about sleep, diet, and exercise can have a direct effect on your emotions and state of mind. Stress comes from many sources - relationships, family, friends, current events, and academic studies - and that stress will have an effect on both your mental and physical health. When unaddressed, mental health problems like depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and addiction can make it hard to do well or feel good.
