Eight Tibetan Buddhist monks from Gaden Jangtse Tsawa Khangsten, a monastery in South India, came this past April 8-11 to construct a sacred sand mandala and butter sculpture in the Tang. Thursday morning was the culmination where the mandala was destroyed and carried down to the pond where the sand and its blessings were released into the water.

From my prespective, it was great having the monks around. Their maroon robes added a bit of color to campus. A lot of townfolk came to view the progress and see the ceremonies. A good turn out from the student croud too. (Hey it got me to the Tang more than I have any other time.)

In the meantime, there are no current events coming up for the club.

Past Events (that might be of interest)
Kundun - Martin Scorsese's film follows the early life of the 14th Dalai Lama and the trials of his country.
Windhorse - Windhorse explores the violent abuse of Tibetan human rights under Chinese occupation.
