Editor’s greeting

Welcome to the new improved, old familiar Scope. Scope’s move to a magazine format reflects reader input, College objectives, and changing times, and was the result of extensive conferencing, committeeing, and consensus building among alumni, trustees, and staff. And Scope’s continuing loyalty to many of its former characteristics and traditions is the result of the same process.

Among Scope’s new elements are a column on faculty activities, an expanded class-notes section, and a more flexible format for presenting feature stories, profiles, and College news. But Scope will also keep offering the same reader-friendliness and lively presentation it’s always aimed for, so that it provides a fun and interesting way to remain a part of Skidmore and stay in touch with Skidmoreans on and off campus.

As always, readers are heartily invited to participate in Scope. Send class notes to your class secretary (see the top of the class-notes column for your class), or contact Scope’s class-notes editor directly by mail, e-mail (scopenotes@skidmore.edu), 24-hour phone (518-580-5747), or fax (518-580-5740). And speak out on any topic or issue you see in Scope by writing a letter to Scope, sending an e-mail (srosenbe@skidmore.edu), calling in (518-580-5747), or faxing (518-580-5748).

We’re very keen to hear everybody’s response to Scope, in both its magazine and online formats, so please share your impressions and ideas–not just now, but anytime down the road.
