Albany Capital District. In August, baseball fans gathered in Glens Falls to watch the Adirondack Lumberjacks play the Berkshire Black Bears. A group of alumni and friends gave a welcoming hand to new students moving into their residence halls in early September. The group waxed nostalgic about the days when they arrived as first-year students.
Cape Cod. In July, over ninety alumni and friends gathered in Barnstable Village for an a cappella concert by The Hyannis Sounda group started by Townsend Belisle 93, former member of the Skidmore Bandersnatchers. Thanks to Margi Maynard 57 for her help in orchestrating the event.
Long Island. An enthusiastic group of alumni attended the second annual Skidmore luncheon at the Devon Yacht Club in Amagansett in August. Mary Fallon 60 helped coordinate this event.
New York City. Skidmore and baseball teamed up in June. The first scheduled event, at Yankee Stadium, was rained out. But nothing kept alumni and their guests away from the Staten Island Yankees vs. Brooklyn Cyclones gameor the New York Mets vs. Kansas City Royals. John Johnston 95 helped organize the events. An energetic group of young alumni gathered for the annual summer boat cruise. Thanks to Graeme Campbell 98 for her help in skippering this event.
San Francisco. Baseball fans assembled to see the San Francisco Giants play the Montreal Expos and joined a pre-game gathering at Momos, located near Pacific Bell Park. Thanks to Michele Forte 90 for her help with this event.
Do you remember the summer before your first year at Skidmore, asking things like, What should I bring with me? and How much snow does Saratoga really get? Alumni, current students, and parents gathered in several locations this summer to answer questions and welcome members of the Class of 2006 and their parents to the Skidmore family. A huge thank-you to those who hosted gatherings: Jonathan Seeger 03, Michael Seeger 06, and parents Mark and Fran Seeger (Bethesda, MD); Michele Segre 90 (Wyndmoor, PA); Susan Schwartz 68 (Chicago, IL); Jonathan Leavitt 06 and parents Stephen and Maribelle Leavitt (San Francisco, CA); and Stephanie Whitehorn 03 and parents Carol and Joseph Whitehorn (Waban, MA). And thanks to Dave Kovall 00 for his help in securing the venue for the New York City gathering.
