Prize-winning author Michael Ondaatje autographs a book during this summer’s New York State Writers’ Institute at Skidmore. The author of The English Patient, Anil’s Ghost, and other works was among a large faculty of fiction writers, poets, and nonfiction authors who offered intensive writing workshops as well as a series of public readings and discussions. The Writers’ Institute is hosted by the staff of the journal Salmagundi, under editor Robert Boyers, the Tisch Professor of Arts and Letters at Skidmore. —SR
