Lissie Eichler Stephenson’s daughter Hannah is working in NYC for the Rubin Museum of Art, a private collection of Tibetan and Himalayan art, opening this fall.

The BBC news quoted Karlis Muehlenbachs (husband of Lelde Skipsna Muehlenbachs) in an April report on microscopic burrows where some of Earth’s earliest life forms bored their way into volcanic glass 3.5 billion years ago. Dr. Muehlenbachs, of the University of Alberta, was part of an international team that published its findings in the journal Science.

Joleen Johrde Worden is shocked to realize her youngest, Derek, has graduated from high school and stands 6'8" tall. He just completed his Boy Scout Eagle Project and entered the University of New Hampshire this fall. Joleen’s oldest daughter, Kate, graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is an officer in the Navy. Son Brian, an RPI junior, also plans to join the Navy when he graduates. Joleen keeps busy in Bedford, NH, with a high-school planning committee and politics. Husband Kent continues to flourish in his architecture and construction business, ARENCO Inc.

Last January Lucia Berger West, Susie Necarsulmer Goldsmith, and Cheryl Rogers Greer held a mini-reunion in NYC. Although it was the coldest weekend in a decade, notes Lucia, “our talking, laughing, and a bit of imbibing made us warm and happy. We cannot believe so many years have passed, but we still feel young (in spirit)!”

Susan Lane Herley’s oldest son, Brad, who has been attending the University of Puget Sound for the past two years, is spending the first semester of his junior year at Australia’s University of Melbourne. Younger son Jordan is a freshman at the University of Colorado. Susan volunteers at local senior citizen centers (playing piano and singing) and sings with the chorus she joined two years ago.

Nancy Ehmann Aronzon is acting director of the center for advising at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, where husband Danny (Union ’69) is acting CEO of Vassar Bros. Medical Center. The couple’s eldest daughter, Denise, is in medical school in Rochester, NY; middle daughter Nicole is pursuing a master’s at the London School of Economics; and Stephanie is a senior in environmental studies at Boston College.

I. Elaine Allen was elected a Fellow of the American Statistical Association—a special honor, since only one-third of one percent of the membership is elected (and fewer women). She is the Joyce Professor of Statistics and Entrepreneurship at Babson College and was appointed faculty director of the Center for Women’s Leadership. Her youngest, Julia, started at Pomona College this fall. Son Chris ponders grad school while working as a research analyst at a Harvard think-tank. She exchanges lots of e-mails with Bev Armsden Daniel, and they get together at least once a year.

Wendy Clark Jennings is director of invitations and stationery at a local gift and office-supply store two blocks from home. She also manages antique shows and does volunteer work for garden clubs and a local sorority, through the Junior League of Detroit. She and “the love of my life,” Joseph, have been married more than 30 years.

Elizabeth Miller Grasty keeps in contact via e-mail with former roommate Christine Vitolo, who lives in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Active in the local chamber of commerce, Elizabeth quilted a beautiful queen-size quilt and pillow shams for her niece, who was married in June.

After 30 years in advertising and graphic design, Deborah Fritts Palmer has started a third career as a fine artist. Her representational paintings of landscapes are exhibited by the Spencer Art Gallery in Charlestown, SC, and can be viewed at www.spencerart.com. Deborah can be contacted in Sag Harbor, NY, at dfpdesign@aol.com.
