Sarah Kemmerer married Saratoga native Dan Cipperly in Atlanta on April 2. Susie Moore and Allison Prouty were among the attendants, and Anne Watters and Alexei Erchak ’97 provided readings for the ceremony. Also joining in the festivities were Sarah Resig ’00, Cate Owren, Gwyneth Dobson, Aidan McCann, Leah Bokenkamp, Mike Rozinsky, and Lauren Massingham. Sarah and Dan live in Atlanta and visit Saratoga as often as possible.

Jon Katz recently won the Guitar Center’s Guitarmageddon contest at the Carle Place, NY, location. He competed and won two rounds to become the Carle Place Store Champion and later competed at the regional finals in NYC where he came in second. Jon explains that Guitarmageddon is the American Idol for guitarists. See www.guitarcenter.com for details.

Jeff Menaker shared the news that Adam Swart is back from almost three years in Nepal with the Peace Corps. Adam, an art major, held his first solo show at the Blue Heron Arts Center in NYC from June to October. The show included paintings and works on paper that are a combination of his best work from Skidmore and art completed while living in Nepal.

This has been a huge year for Angelique Jenks-Brown and husband Lance Brown. A few months after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2004 with an MSLS degree, she discovered she was pregnant. She landed her first professional job, as science reference librarian and bibliographer at Binghamton University’s Science Library, and in the midst of packing and preparations to relocate to Binghamton, she gave birth to son Timothy Drake in March. In May Angelique started her job with the library’s psychology, geology, environmental studies, and maps collections.

Sara Ike has been promoted to high-performance director of vaulting, and is the anti-doping agency coordinator at the US Equestrian Federation. A bronze-medal winner in competitive vaulting, she is preparing for the World Equestrian Games in 2006.

Luis Alicea is an Americorp Vista Volunteer with Columbia University’s Community Impact Program. Director of curricular development for online adult learning, he also teaches GED and ESL classes. He welcomes hearing from Skidmore friends at Luis091177@hotmail.com.

Michael Weeks lives in Astoria, Queens, and is a print buyer for Colgate-Palmolive in Manhattan; he moonlights as a keyboard player, laptop musician, and score writer.

In August Keith Friedmanmarried Kristen Van Erk on Long Island. Jason Strochak was best man, and Tommy Jin ’98 was a groomsman.Also on hand to celebrate were Todd Swedock ’98 and Stan Maragos.

We extend condolences to Michelle Ritorto, whose mother, Janis Skog Ritorto ’72, senior teaching associate in Skidmore’s chemistry department, died July 4. Michelle recently received a PhD from Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

On June 18 Roy Geiser ’98 and I were married at the Surrey Williamson Inn at Skidmore, surrounded by a small group of family and friends. Chris Geiser ’97 was best man, Jon-Erik Magnus ’97 and Elizabeth Roberts Dalgard performed readings, and Camilo Moronta ’98 accompanied the ceremony with guitar. Melanie Lary ’00, Doug Gilmour ’00, Joelle Smith ’01, Keith Wallach ’00, and Jarrod Lynn also attended. The week following the wedding, Roy and I spent our honeymoon on St. John, US Virgin Islands, snorkeling and sunbathing. I continue to teach art at the Madeira School outside of DC, while Roy is working and going to school for an MA in international development at American University.
