Eyeing the baseball diamond from Section 4 of the Fenway Park grandstand, more than 100
alums and cohorts root for the Red Sox in a scorching July contest against the Royals. “The Sox pulled off a victory after being down 4-0 for most of the game,” brags David Thomson ’02. “We
tied it in the sixth and then got the go-ahead run with a Manny Ramirez sac fly,” explains Jen Hunter Wightman ’78. “Great stuff!” She adds, “I used a mister and hand fan to keep cool.” “Everyone seemed a little lifeless at first,” says Susan Fleischmann Erickson ’74. “Fortunately, the team rallied and the fans woke up. A win is always good.” Lucia Campriello ’02 declares, “I’ve never been more uncomfortably warm in my life. But baseball fans as we are (even though I’m a
Yankees fan), we toughed it out, with (somewhat) cold beer keeping us (somewhat) cool.” —MTS
