Sibyl Avrett Carlson and Carol Eaton McMillan met in Natchez, MS, for a week with an Elderhostel program. They learned a lot of history about the area and visited several mansions. Carol lives in Connecticut, and Sibyl lives in California.
Joan Eisner Garb and husband Zeke are still in good health. She does volunteer work, and he continues to work full-time. Daughter Maggie, in Washington University’s American history department, received tenure and is working on her second book; Emily works for a charitable foundation based in Philadelphia; and son Charlie works for his soccer mates in their store in Chicago—while still playing at age 40!
In April Peggy Kahles Guyder enjoyed a trip to Central America to tour Mayan ruins. She and her husband then toured Eastern Europe in June, stopping in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. She reports, “These countries are rejoicing over their recent independence.”
Margery Blacker Griffith is recovering nicely from a small stroke. Last summer her middle granddaughter, Carrie, was married in Vail, CO, in a “big, fancy wedding.” Carrie teaches in Denver. Eldest granddaughter Hillary is a lawyer in St. Louis, MO. Grandson Alex is completing his last year of law school. Last spring Margery sold her trawler before the fuel crisis, and she installed a full-house generator to prepare for hurricane season in southwest Alabama.
