After more than 30 years in Michigan, Penelope Drake Pestronk recently moved to Washington DC. While it meant leaving good friends and family behind, it has become an opportunity for Penelope to reconnect with Skidmore friends Ellen Evans Boyle, who lives in Longmeadow, MA; NYC resident Emily Stein; Susan Opie Smeraglinolo, who works in Baltimore, MD; Sara Evans Maner ’75, who lives and works in DC; and Tina Bowie Dove ’74, another DC resident.

Becky Gummere Hall and her husband brought their son Brooks to see Skidmore last summer. They visited with retired English professor Murray Levith and had a terrific time. The Halls also strolled through Yaddo and gawked at the people at the racetrack. She says she had forgotten how beautiful Saratoga is in the summer.

MP Ballou shares her memories of our beloved classmate, Sean Jackson Patrick, who died of ovarian cancer in January: “Sean and I did not know each other at Skidmore but met in Aspen in the early 1980s. She came to my house to work on some political ads for my husband and recognized some pots from my senior art show at Skidmore! She fought heroically for 13 years or so against ovarian cancer and created the HERA foundation to raise funds for cancer research and awareness. We have been close friends and I will miss her terribly.” Indeed, Sean will be missed by many of us whose lives she touched over the years.
