Dina Silver Pokedoff and husband Mark welcomed son Benjamin on December 21, 2008.

Jon LaConti and wife Lauren are doing well. They welcomed son Ryder in May; he joins sister Jillian, 7, and brothers Mason, 4, and Gavin, 2. Everyone is happy and healthy. Jon was promoted to VP of national ad sales at Fine Living Network, where he is having a great time working on building the next great Scripps brand (in addition to FLN, Scripps owns the Food Network, HGTV, and DIY). He encourages classmates to check out season two of Whatever Martha.

In NYC Howie Statland just expanded his guitar store, Rivington Guitars, to a larger and more central location at 73 East 4th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. His band NYCSmoke has just released a new EP, Permission to Get Down; they are playing all around town. Howie is marrying NYC clothing designer Brookelynn Starnes.

After being laid off from her marketing position in July, Rachel Levy has started a marketing and social media and training consultancy. She lives in Brookline, MA, with her yellow lab Stella.

Deidre Linburn, formerly a clinical social worker at UC-San Francisco Children’s Hospital, moved to Berkeley in February. There she met up with Charlotte Riggs ’94, who was visiting from DC. Deidre stays in touch with Chrissy Lekas Torizzo, who had a baby girl this past year, and Katie Lord Naples, mother of three little ones.

In December 2008 New Orleans resident Ellie Armani welcomed daughter Abigail; she joins brother Alex, 3. Ellie says they are “still havin’ fun in the Big Easy!”

Erik Butler and his wife welcomed son Nicholas on November 17, 2008; he joins sisters Anna, 8, and Caroline, 5, and brother Matteus, 3. The family lives in Chapel Hill, NC. In the small-world department, their neighbors have two boys and two girls and are also from Saratoga! Erik welcomes hearing from classmates at erikbutler@nc.rr.com.

Suzanne Loheac Arredondo and husband Elkin are the parents of son Logan, 1, and daughter Angelica, 14. Suzanne’s veterinary practice is going strong, and the family loves living in their new farm home with all of their assorted animals! Suzanne (sloheac@backstretchvet.com) would love to hear from Skidmore friends.

Andrea Bastiani Archibald and family moved to Pelham Manor, NY, last summer and are loving their new digs. They also enjoyed visiting with Ian and Stephanie Thorson Reynolds in January. Combined, the families have five little boys under age 9! Andrea just began a new position as senior researcher and developmental psychologist to the Girl Scout Research Institute in NYC.

Amy Tibbetts Chapman and husband Zach (Colgate 1993) live in South Orange, NJ, with children Addison, 4, and Parker, 2. Their two Rhodesian ridgeback dogs just sit, watch, and sleep while life gets busier. The family’s 90-year-old home is in perfect proximity to Manhattan, allowing them to see Hillary Schupf, Jen Finklestein Komitee, Caroline Orr D’Abate, Jill Carpenter Jones, Amy Judelsohn Gordon, and Kimber Hirsch ’92. Amy and her mother-in-law, Linda Chapman ’63, enjoy their 30-year age difference when attending Skidmore Reunion together.

I have just finished up my duties on the John Burroughs Association Young Readers Jury Panel. The JBA annually awards books that speak to “young naturalists.” There is also an essay award and nonfiction winner. If you are in publishing and are interested in nominating books for next year, please contact me. My husband, Alex, and I enjoy watching Nora, 4, and Josie, 1, be sisters. Our days are filled with dancing and princess tea parties. Only now am I appreciating all the subtleties of the color pink.
