Frits Abell was recognized by Skidmore’s alumni association with an Outstanding Service Award in June. As you may know, he has been instrumental in the creation and promotion of the Skidmore Business Network (www.skidbiz.net) and has helped to strengthen the school’s relationship with alumni by showing that the College can offer many valuable services even after graduation.

Julie Finigan Dal Forno
is teaching fourth grade at the International School of Singapore. She is also busy finishing a second master’s and raising two boys in a multilingual environment. She enjoys traveling in Thailand and Malaysia during rare downtime. She regrets she couldn’t be at Reunion, but plans to hold some mini-reunions with alums when she is back in the States.

Julie Gibbons Keblinsky lives in Ellsworth, ME, with sons Samuel, 6, and Peter, 3. She teaches social studies at Ellsworth High School, edits textbook manuscripts on the side, and works alongside her husband in his business, Downeast Sailing Adventures (downeastsailing.com).

Juliet Glassroth has been living and working in Washington, DC, for the past seven years. In 2008 she “took the plunge” and started her own business, providing marketing and communications consulting for nonprofits and environmentally focused organizations. Despite the economy, her business is thriving and her commute (to her kitchen table) is much improved. Her new schedule has also allowed her to complete a 200-hour yoga teacher training.

John Hampshire lives in a former church in South Troy, NY, where “the sanctuary is my painting studio.” Recent exhibits of his art include a show at the Phoenix Gallery in NYC early this year, a spring show titled More Than Just Lines at Clement Art in Troy, and an exhibition last fall at the Darrow School in New Lebanon. John teaches studio art at Adir­ondack Community College, where he recently received tenure. This summer was his 12th teaching art during summer session at Skidmore!

Anne Koch Gibson and husband Josh welcomed daughter Beatrice on January 11. Anne says, “She is a sweet baby, and we’re enjoying the big adjustment of becoming first-time parents.” Still working as a business and entertainment law attorney in Portland, OR, Anne recently headed up a committee to change a state independent contractor law that was discriminatory to musicians. She also testified in front of the state senate, and the bill passed unanimously. She was sorry to have missed Reunion.

Kirkland Lau and his wife, Giulia, welcomed twin sons David and Daniel last December and brought the boys home on Christmas eve; he says it was “by far our best Christmas ever!” Giulia is an ob-gyn, and Kirkland is a dermatologist who has authored over 25 medical-journal articles.

Matthew Miczek is living in Saratoga Springs, NY, where he is a software engineer for Everett Charles Technologies and enjoys volunteering for the Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park.

Two years ago, Nathan Miselis received a doctorate from Brown University, where he works to discover new therapies for cancer treatment. Nathan says, “This was one of several personal milestones in the new century, which included marriage to my wonderful wife, now known as Dr. Heather Hough Miselis, in 2001, and the birth of our two sons: Theodore, 5, and Alexander, 3.”

Nicole Morrione Graziano and husband Vincent welcomed son Daniel on February 23; he joins sister Sophia, 3.

Jennifer Newman Shotton lives in Dobbs Ferry, NY, with husband Adrian and daughter Anabelle, 18 months. Jennifer is proud to announce that she co-founded a new business in January called the Rivertown Play Group, “the central address for families of children ages 0 to 3” living in the river towns and surrounding communities in lower Westchester. The play group already has over 200 members and an active Facebook group and fan page, and features nights out for moms and dads.

Connie Oberle, husband Dan, and daughter Anna Lee, 3, welcomed Katherine to the family on February 24. “Everybody is quite excited about the new addition to our clan,” says Connie, including doggies Fairlee and Foster and cats Piglet and the Runt.

Carl Rabke has been living in Salt Lake City, UT, enjoying the Wasatch Mountains’ “amazing landscape.” After a brief stint teaching third grade, Carl and his wife, Erin, completed a four-year training in the Feldenkrais method of movement to expand self-awareness and health. They opened the Center for Somatic Education in Salt Lake City, offering Feldenkrais classes and workshops, as well as a structural integration (aka Rolfing) practice. Robert Sitterley lives in Orlando, FL, with his wife, Lisa. After playing golf professionally for six years on the Golden Bear, Maverick, Tarheel, Gateway, and Nationwide tours, he has “settled back into the 9-to-5 world,” working with the Florida governor to spur economic development. Robert is in charge of attracting new businesses to the state.

Frazier Rugg Walker is happily living in Maryland with husband Kevin and their two girls, Ellis, 16, and Campbell, 4. A mostly stay-at-home mom, she also works at the county library. Frazier authored Celebrating the First 100 Years of Union Hospital of Cecil County, which was published last December.

Simon & Schuster published Tyler Colman’s newest wine book, A Year of Wine: Perfect Pairings, Great Buys, and What to Sip for Each Season, which the Chicago Tribune calls “charming…witty, lively, and loaded with common sense.” Tyler says, “I encourage people to get the most out of wine by exploring something new and changing their wines with the seasons.”
