Horse show rides high

Airborne is how hundreds of equestrians spent much of their time at the annual Skidmore College Saratoga Classic Horse Show in June. Also on air were the organizers, Adele Einhorn ’80 and varsity riding coach Cindy Ford, when the event made its usual big hit and raised approximately $250,000 for Skidmore scholarship aid. The slow economy slightly shaved the number of horses shipped in for the two-week, AA-rated show, but it didn’t diminish the philanthropy of the sponsors or the spirit of the riders. Spectators and well-wishers watched the action in two hunter rings and a jumper ring, with everything from children’s classes to world-championship-level qualifiers to an alumni equitation division that drew a record 22 Skiddies. —SR
