Faculty leaders named

Charles M. Joseph has been named Skidmore’s interim vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty. He replaces John Berman, who stepped aside in January and will join the teaching faculty in psychology next fall. A professor of music (and expert on Igor Stravinsky) who has long been active in faculty governance and leadership, Joseph had been serving as associate dean of the faculty.

The other associate dean, Skidmore anthropologist Susan Bender, will continue through this year; then Sarah Goodwin, professor of English, will become the new associate dean. In announcing the transition, Joseph warmly thanked Bender for her past and continuing leadership and welcomed Goodwin to the post, saying, “I could not be more pleased.” —SR
