Jackie Buxbaum Cross had some wonderful reunions in the summer and fall of 2004. Chebeague Island, ME, was the site for a get-together with Joan Deely Henderson and Dave, and Ellen Cross Cika ’61 and Bob. The group enjoyed “lots of walking, wine, lobster, and laughter, not necessarily in that order.” Jackie also had a fun catch-up lunch with Sue Vanek Heidtmann, who lives in Goshen, CT.

Joyce Harder Nielsen is active with biking, hiking, scrambling mountains, kayaking, and skiing. She backpacked in June with her daughter and two of her friends in Smokey Mountain National Park. Joyce’s oldest granddaughter was married in May and enjoyed a trip with her to Banff and Lake Louise in Canada. “It terrifies me to think that I could be a great-grandmother in the near future,” quips Joyce. Her grandson graduated from high school this summer. Joyce plans to retire from the bakery at Safeway next year and pursue her love of carving cottonwood bark scenes, which she will sell at craft fairs and gallery exhibits.

Sally Simmons Stoerr enjoyed a family reunion in Florida over Thanksgiving. They took an indirect route via Texas in order to visit with Carol Copeland Schmidhauser and Dutch. Sally reports that the Schmidhausers, who both had hip replacements last summer, are doing really well.

Last June Lynn Pringle Anastos took the first step toward retirement when she resigned as guidance department chair at Fontbonne Academy in Milton, MA, after 20 years. She now has time to enjoy quilting, attending football and soccer games, working with the Hull Cultural Council, knitting, reading, and grandparenting. Lynn and husband Ted are in the throes of deciding whether to stay put or leave the area when full retirement hits.

Nancy Cutter Parker and husband Bill continue working at their church. Son Greg was ordained a Presbyterian pastor last fall and serves as a hospice chaplain. Daughter Joan and family recently moved back to Menlo Park, NJ, giving Nancy lots of time with her granddaughters (and the third generation of family swim-team members at their local club). Nancy continues to play tennis, sits on a number of community boards, and tap dances.

George and I traveled to South America between Peru and Chile in January. We visited the wonderful family who hosted me last year on a Friendship Force trip, and revisited the wonders of Cusco and Machu Picchu. The Sacramento-area Skidmore club had a first gathering at our house last November, with 15 attending. Although there were no other ’62 graduates, we enjoyed a great representation of classes, and memories galore.
