Carolyn Caesar Ingraham, husband Mark, and daughter Lora visited with Sabre (Linda Sable) Gilmartin during a quick trip to England in November. It was the first time they had gotten together in 41 years! Carolyn was amazed to learn of Sabre’s adventurous life and varied careers. After working for a few years in glass sculpture, our ex-pat classmate is a jewelry maker. Working with EU-funded Jewelry Industry Innovation Centre has helped Sabre develop her product; the organization is showcasing her work this spring at the biggest event of its kind in Britain. She is busy preparing prototypes and photos for the show. Sabre celebrated the new year in Borneo with her ex-husband, who remains a close friend.

In December the Ingrahams were off to China again, following up on last April’s trip to the Great Wall and planning this time to travel south as far as the Tibetan border and ring in the new year in with friends. The Ingrahams travel extensively whenever Lora is on vacation from school. (Carolyn’s daughter is the age of most of our grandchildren!) Last year they also visited Florida, Las Vegas, western national parks, Nassau, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico.

Mary Harris Wieneke sends greetings from Seattle, WA, and wants to correct the spelling of her e-mail address; it is wienekem@aol.com.

Jane Goodnow Doyle and I have been exchanging Christmas cards since we graduated, and have not seen each other since 1964. This year’s card from Jane, who lives in Lunenburg, MA, says she is retiring from nursing after 41 years.

North Carolina resident Hedy Bergida White and her daughter are moving out of the mountains of rural Culowhee and planning to relocate to the more cosmopolitan research triangle area near the University of North Carolina and Duke.

Happily retired in Hanover, NH, Judith Pettingell says she has never been busier. She is a board member for two start-up efforts—an area arts advocacy agency and an antipoverty group. She has also gone back to school at nearby Dartmouth College, which runs community outreach programs that are especially popular with the many retirees in the area. Her next challenge will be learning Chinese. Judy is also throwing pots, staying active in progressive political and environmental causes, and serving as our class co-president.

Judy’s co-prez Ronnie Zolondek Bramesco reports, “I have a wonderful new man in my life.” He visited with Ronnie in New York for a month, and she met him in Tucson in late December.

Judy Hestwood Feagin’s younger son Will got married in October; she and husband Tom bought a house in Readfield, ME; they sold their Memphis home to a couple from Hong Kong in December; and then, Judy says, “I totally lost my mind and invited the whole family up here for Christmas.” She cites “various glitches and full-blown disasters” that occurred, which prompted Tom to send her to Canyon Ranch after the first of the year for a little de-stressing.

Judy Carter Colligan, who left Skidmore after sophomore year, can be reached at jlcbolero@verizon.net.

In St. Louis, MO, Karen Levin Coburn and husband Steve celebrated their 40th anniversary last summer.

Wendy Sussman Rubin has a new grandson, born to daughter Stephanie and her husband. Adam was in a hurry to join the family, arriving 12 weeks early. After an eight-week stay at New York/Cornell Hospital, he went home in December.

Speaking of grandchildren—how many of you are constantly sick because of them? I find myself catching something every time I see my precious little germ-mongers! I spent the winter working on three paintings that will be included in a book called Parks through Pen and Paint, about Yosemite, Yellowstone, and the Grand Canyon. I am also producing work for a dual show to be held in Lebanon, NH, this May.
