In Washington, DC, Gretchen Traas Spencer is in her eighth year as head of the lower school at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School. Daughter Sarah graduated from the University of Virginia last spring and is back home, applying to graduate schools in clinical psychology. Husband Bailey is a VP with Open Text Corporation, a software company. Gretchen—who enjoys reading, knitting, gardening, and cooking—hopes to join us at Reunion in June.

Margie Mellman has finally acquired a computer and welcomes e-mails at Margiemellman@aol.com. Last fall she ran into Carolyn Ray, who is “happily divorced”; her son is a Cornell freshman and her daughter is 15.

Susan Lane Herley and husband Pete are now empty-nesters: Brad is a junior at the University of Puget Sound, and Jordan is a freshman at UC-Boulder. They eased into the new life phase by taking a 10-day driving trip through the Southwest, followed by a trip to Massachusetts to visit Susan’s parents. In October they spent a month in Australia and New Zealand, where they were impressed by spectacular scenery and the friendliness of the people. Susan plans to attend Reunion.
