Valerie Burns Winningham and John Winebrenner announced their marriage after eloping to Key West, FL, in December. They plan on living six months in Louisville, KY, and six months in Naples, FL, playing a lot of golf, and enjoying life together. Valerie heard from Dana DeLuca Shechtman, a biology major who is now a lawyer, as is her husband, Stephen. They live in Barrington, RI, with a second home in Naples, FL. Their older daughter is a freshman at the Boston Conservatory, majoring in classical voice performance and opera. Their 7-year-old daughter was adopted from China five years ago.

Joan Berger is general counsel and chief compliance officer of Pzena Investment Management in NYC. Daughter Sara, 16, is preparing for the SATs and planning a summer doing community service in South America. Joan, husband Elie, and Sara love to travel the globe, most recently hiking the rain forest in Costa Rica and taking a cruise to Thailand and Vietnam.

Martha Weaver Teschner has been in Rabat, Morocco, for over a year with husband Doug and son Luke, 17. Son Ben is in college in the States. Martha continues in the nursing profession by helping in the US embassy health unit. She hopes everyone gets a chance to experience the world outside the borders of the US.

Susan Cortley Diller is the mother of Ryan, 13, and Molly, 9. After a winter holiday skiing in Vermont, Susan returned to work as head of human resources for Ferrero, the company known for Tic Tacs, Nutella, and Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Cindy Secaur Day started her tenth year as a staff crystallographer and adjunct assistant professor in the chemistry department at Wake Forest University. Her daughter is a junior biology major at Wake Forest, and her son is a high-school senior. Cindy’s husband retired from UNL after 32 years and took a position at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. So, although they still aren’t living in the same state, they are a couple hundred miles closer. Cindy keeps in touch with Sue Hemingway, whose niece is a freshman at Wake Forest. She also visits Sue in Auburn, NY, once a year.

Lesslie Crowell is very involved in playing early music (recorder) with two groups in Charlottesville, VA, where she has lived for the past 15 years. In June, while on a road trip with her two sons, 16 and 14, between Tucson and Denver, she stopped in Deming, NM, to visit Margie Lilly, a freelance journalist who writes about Hispanic affairs in the area.

Winnie Wan’s company, ForteBio, is meeting with success, and she began working full-time last September, just as daughter Justine left home to attend Barnard College, Columbia University. Husband Stefan changed plans from retiring to playing a key role in the Intel/Micron deal.

Anne Peterson Conolly was director of Camp Onaway in Hebron, NH, again last summer. She says, “I am able to use all of my teaching experience in a peaceful, simple environment for nine weeks each summer. The rest of the year is filled with preparation for those nine weeks. “
