Deb Sehl Coons and husband Phil bought a Victorian cottage on Saratoga’s East Side last fall and are completing interior renovations. They really love the idea of having a weekend place near campus and look forward to having classmates visit. “It’s been a lot of fun, but I’ve become familiar with the concept of ‘project creep,’” notes Deb. Now in her second year as alumni board president and trustee, she says she enjoys every minute of it. When not working for Skidmore, Deb is a senior consultant at MassMutual, specializing in financial analysis and management reporting.
Debbie Baum Chapin-Horowitz is chair of EdsLink LLC, the venture fund she began with husband Michael. She also provides legal and business consulting services to a management consulting firm. Son Josh is a sophomore at Duke.
Laura Griffith McDermott’s daughter, Lauren, graduated from Penn having received Academic All Ivy and been named to the Division-I Academic Honor Roll
by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association. Son Cameron attends Elon University in North Carolina. Husband Rick is retired from US Trust Company, so they are enjoying more golf as well as their charitable activities.
Lynn Ritchie Hooper and Don have retired. The latest addition to the family is a Cogol (a cocker spaniel and golden retriever mix) puppy. Samantha attends Furman University, and Nate is a high-school wrestler and top student.
Betsy Stern Guttag retired from 25 years of teaching and is consulting for McMillan McGraw Hill, teaching a math program to other teachers. She and Bart spend winters in Ft. Myers, FL, and summers in Valhalla, NY.
Elementary-school teacher Pam Scott Morris and Gary are proud of daughter Kristin (Cornell ’00) and son Erik (Lehigh ’04). Pam is class historian for our 35th reunion and an active member of the Reunion planning committee.
Liz Craig-Olins enjoyed a visit back to Saratoga Springs in the fall for family weekend, accompanying son Jake ’10. She had tea with Professor Murray Levith, who is still teaching “after all these years.” Daughter Heather received a master’s in environmental science from Wesleyan last May. Stepson Matt is with the UN in Nairobi, and stepdaughter Alex works in Burlington, VT. Liz teaches English and loves it.
Beth Verprauskus Summerford loves her new marketing job with the Hanover Insurance Group. Daughters Jenny and Sarah graduated from the University of Georgia, where their younger sister is a junior. Beth and husband Sid live in Lilburn, a suburb of Atlanta. She hopes to see many friends at Reunion 2007!
Speaking of Reunion… please make plans now to be there: May 31–June 3. It’s going to be a great time and a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with classmates.
