He is director of sales and marketing and a board member of The Preferred Group, employee-benefit administrators. When asked about significant moments in his life, Mike—a self-described “straight-A” student at Skidmore—mentioned that he “skipped class to race horses at the Saratoga harness track.” He has had a lifelong passion for the horseracing industry and says, “It’s an experience I wouldn’t trade for anything.” He left a career at Cantor Fitzgerald three years before the September 11, 2001, attacks devastated the firm; he lost many friends and colleagues. He returned to upstate New York to raise his son, and to be a horse trainer and driver prior to rejoining the corporate world in 2003. |
