Judy Butler Cummings’s granddaughter Kimmy was featured in the Redmond (CA) Times Dispatch, for her record goal-scoring for the Mechanicsville, CA, high-school soccer team.

Andrea Lynn McCarthy has expanded her stained-glass creations to glass mosaic murals. She has made stained-glass valances for a new building in her town.

I traveled to Bhutan (a landlocked country south of Tibet/China and north of India) in March. The trip was prompted by one taken by my late husband, Paul, in 1961, when he was only the second American to have visited. Along with other journalists who were official guests of the government, he traveled on muleback on unpaved roads. Now there is one paved road, one air field, and one traffic policeman. English is widely spoken, the gross national product is happiness, the national sport is archery, and in the 2008 elections the country adopted a parliamentary government after years of traditional monarchy.
