Anacortes, WA, resident Janet Reder Hersey was in NYC in September with her significant other, Jay, and ran into Julie Mandle Kiechel and her husband, Steve, at the Time-Warner Center. Janet and Jay had been exploring the Museum of Art and Design at Columbus Circle, which includes work with several Skidmore connections—among them, art professor Earl Pardon. Julie and Steve, who live in Ohio, were visiting their two Skidmore alumnae daughters, Emily ’92 and Katherine ’96, and attending a friend’s son’s wedding. Janet and Jay had just returned from 10 days on Kauai, where they enjoyed snorkeling and hiking.

Judy Harris Soper and husband John attended an Italian christening of their friends’ granddaughter in Sperlonga, a seaside town between Naples and Rome. Based at a “borgo” (a new town outside an older one) near Cortona, they also visited Siena, Assisi, and Orvieto. After a Greek cruise, they visited a World Heritage Site in Italy’s Puglia region to view the trulli, which are prehistoric cylindrical dwellings.

During a visit with Jack and Meg Nichols Carrothers in Florida, Bev Harrison Miller and Wayne caught a television broadcast of Meg and Jack’s horse, Muffy, decisively winning her maiden race at Aqueduct.

My good news is that son Tony just graduated from UC-Davis; he lives in San Francisco. Daughter Linden taught skiing this winter in Big Sky, MT. I still work part-time at the French American International School, and as a docent at the newly reopened California Academy of Sciences. Please note my new e-mail address above.
