Patti Brennan Sirico and husband Lou have compensated for their newly empty nest by acquiring a West Highland white terrier puppy named Pippa. Date night is now at puppy-obedience class. Younger daughter Kathy ’12 is enjoying her freshman year at Skidmore. She is a Sonneteer and has performed with the group at the Tang Museum, Celebration Weekend, Saratoga’s pre-Christmas Victorian Streetwalk, a music workshop at Northfield-Mount Herman School, and at the annual fall jamboree at Filene Hall. Kathy loves it. Older daughter Laura ’10 spent fall semester in Florence with the Syracuse University study-abroad program. She and her friends took full advantage of the “no classes on Fridays” policy and a long fall break to travel in Italy and other western European countries. Patti and Lou visited Laura in Florence in October, returning just in time to drive to Skidmore for Celebration Weekend. Patti hopes to see many classmates at our 35th reunion in May.

Martha Teschner lives in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, a small landlocked country in West Africa, where her husband works for the Peace Corps. She always loves to hear from college friends. She can be contacted at mwtesch@hotmail.com. Better yet, if you are in the area, Martha says feel free to stop by!

Steffenie Oliver Kirkpatrick met up with Arlene Goldberg Thrope, Susan McLaren Ragan-Sittler, Erin McHugh, Emily Pavlovic Chiles, and Ellen Brickman on campus in July and had a great brainstorming and planning session for Reunion. Steffenie’s daughter Fiona, a junior at Hamilton College, is studying at Oxford University this year, so Steff and husband Gerry flew to London to join her for Christmas.

Patti Sultan Justice and her family still enjoy the desert lifestyle after 15 years in Scottsdale, AZ. Husband Gary, a stockbroker, is hoping for an economic turnaround. Patti has launched a business called Errands Plus. Daughter Nicole, 26, is still happily working at a Westin Resort in Scottsdale. Son Matthew, a high-school senior, filled out lots of college applications. He was accepted at the University of Arizona and Arizona State University Honors Colleges with full scholarships, but he was hoping for acceptance at Stanford or CalTech. He also applied to Skidmore, even though Patti warned him about the snow and cold. She is planning to attend Reunion and has been talking to Pam Ulman Schlussel about going with her.

Kim Coleman has an active interior-design business. She lives in NYC and Palm Beach with husband Payson. Of their three children, son Chase and daughter Avery are married. Kim has three grandchildren.

Vicki Greene Aldrich is looking forward to having everyone back in town for our (choke!) 35th. She and Kate Ferris are planning a Friday get-together on the old campus. You won’t want to miss it!

Susan Elliott is currently serving as the US Consul General in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Her office assists with the peace process, economic development, and cross-community projects. A career member of the Foreign Service, she joined the State Department in 1990. Susan has also served in Russia, Peru, and Greece, and on the staff of the Secretary of State.

Since Nancy Winer Braun and husband Russ moved to Truro, MA, she has been involved with the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, an Audubon sanctuary on Cape Cod. She helps save cold-stunned sea turtles in the fall and winter months and assists with diamondback-terrapin nesting and hatching in the summer. She is also an Appalachian Mountain Club hike leader.

Two classmates suffered the worst tragedy that can befall a parent. Meg Tipper’s daughter Maggie, 22, died November 2 of epilepsy. She had graduated from University of Southern California last May and was due to start a new job the day after her death. Meg says her family is limping along. Maureen Naughton Fernandez’s daughter Keenan died tragically last summer in a swimming accident in Nepal, where she had participated in a service program. Our thoughts and prayers are with both families.
