Skidmore offers a full calendar of entertainment and edification:

April 30–June 21, Alumni Invitational Exhibit
Plugged showcases alumni works in photography and new media.

May 28–31, Reunion 2009
Alumni, especially from class years ending in 4 and 9, converge on campus for miniclasses,
fireworks, the alumni art show, and more.

May 31–June 20, Summer Dance Workshop: Taylor 2
The acclaimed troupe, founded in 1993 by Paul Taylor, returns for its second summer
residency with master classes and free public events.

May 31–June 27, SITI Summer Theater Workshop
The innovative and muscular ensemble’s residency, with public events Radio
June 12 and demo of Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints June 26.

June 1–July 2, Skidmore College Summer Term, session 1
College students earn credits in small, intensive classes.

June 1–July 2, Summer Studio Art Program, session 1
College students take art courses, including on-location drawing and painting and
an opportunity for bronze casting.

June 10–14, Skidmore Saratoga Classic Horse Show, week 1
An American Hunter-Jumper Foundation world-championship event that brings hundreds
of top riders, benefits Skidmore scholarship funds, and includes an alumni division; free admission.

June 11–14, SaratogaArtsFest
Skidmore joins community partners for the third annual citywide celebration of music, dance, visual art, film, theater, and literary art; on-campus events include a Saratoga Chamber Players concert June 12.

June 12 through August, Upbeat on the Roof
Jazz, folk, and other performers in free concerts every Friday at 7 p.m., on the roof of the Tang Museum

June 17–21, Skidmore Saratoga Classic Horse Show, week 2

June 20, Friends of Skidmore Athletics Thoroughbred Cup
The fifth annual event, open to all, features golf at the renowned Saratoga National Golf Club and/or tennis on the Skidmore courts, link-side dinner at the Prime restaurant, and an online silent auction, all benefiting Skidmore athletics.

June 27–July 11, Skidmore Jazz Institute
One of the nation’s top jazz study programs offers free (and typically SRO!) public concerts by the faculty on July 2 and 9, Gerald Clayton Quintet on June 30, and Jonathan Batiste Quintet on July 7.

June 29–July 24, New York State Summer Writers Institute
In its 23rd year, bringing literary legends such as Joyce Carol Oates, Michael Ondaatje,
Russell Banks, and Jamaica Kincaid to campus to teach creative writing and give free public readings.

June 29–August 14, Camp Northwoods
Sports, cultural arts, nature study, and relaxed play for children entering grades 1–6, offered in
two-week and single-week sessions.

July 5–August 7, Pre-College Program in Liberal and Studio Arts
Highly motivated high school students jump-start their college careers with credit-bearing Skidmore courses and campus-life experience.

July 7–August 7, Skidmore College Summer Term, session 2

July 7–August 7, Summer Studio Art Program, session 2
Classes for pre-college, college, and graduate students, as well as local community members; public activities include a lecture July 13 by mixed-media artist Jessica Stockholder.

July 13, Admissions Open House
An introduction to Skidmore for high school students, featuring tours, a peek at summer science research, information on admissions and financial aid, and a picnic; registration encouraged, but walk-ins welcome.

July 18 through spring 2010, Lives of the Hudson Exhibition
Contemporary and 19th-century artworks explore the Hudon River through the themes of utility, individuality, community, and symbol; check with the Tang Museum for related events.

July 19–25, New York State Summer Young Writers Institute
Workshops for young writers, held in tandem with the original Summer Writers Institute;
see June 29–July 24.

July 23–26, Reunion Planning Workshops
Alumni volunteers from class years ending in 5 and 0 get psyched and organized for next
year’s Reunion 2010.

August 2–8, Skidmore Flute Institute
Participants in this intensive performance study program offer recitals and a public master class.

August 4, Palamountain Scholarship Benefit
The elegant twilight gala, now in its 30th year, is a highlight of the summer social season, with live music, gourmet dinner, and auction; proceeds benefit Skidmore’s Palamountain Scholarship Fund.

August 15, Young Alumni Day at the Races
Second annual Saratoga racetrack outing especially for Skidmore’s younger grads.
