Poetic honors
Renowned poet Carolyn Forché visits with Professor Emeritus Barry Goldensohn, whose faculty slot she will fill as a new professor of English at Skidmore. Forché has won the Yale Younger Poets Prize, the Los Angeles Times Book Award, and other accolades; shes the editor of the anthology Against Forgetting: Twentieth-Century Poetry of Witness. In March she helped celebrate Goldensohn, and poetry itself, at a festival that brought several other leading American poets to campus for two days of readings and panel discussions. The event was sponsored by Salmagundi and chaired by its editor Robert Boyers, Tisch Professor of Arts and Letters.
