In April Drake Patten resigned as executive director of the Rhode Island Council on the Humanities to take over the Edna St. Vincent Millay Colony for the Arts in Austerlitz, NY, which brought her closer to “old stomping grounds in Saratoga Springs.” Though she’ll stay based in Providence, Drake will travel to upstate New York regularly for board and fundraising activities. She also hopes to spend some time in the studio, “to see if there is any part of the artist left in me.”
Sara Taylor Bramah lives in London, where she gave birth to daughter Emily in January. She misses the US and would love to hear from friends at saradtaylor@compuserve.com…although she describes herself as “knee-deep in diapers, and therefore not great at returning e-mails.”
Anne Babington Randolph and family relocated to Minneapolis, where husband John is VP of the private client division for Merrill Lynch, a career he started several years ago after 17 years in the boat business. A stay-at-home mom, Anne runs, plays a lot of paddle tennis, and took up ice hockey this past winter, “like a true Minnesotan.” Oldest daughter Brooke is a junior at the Blake School and an avid figure skater who is looking back east for colleges. She spent the summer on a community service trip to Costa Rica. Brittany, 14, plays soccer and lacrosse. At 13, Courtney is “the oregano on the pizza—a bit spicy at times,” and also plays soccer and ice hockey. Hannah, 9, shares her sister’s passion for hockey.
John Eckert was promoted to commander in the USPHS. During the past year, he served on US health secretary Tommy Thompson’s Emergency Response Team in Chicago for Operation Top Off II (an exercise to test the US response to a terrorist attack) and was also deployed to Philadelphia as the health and medical services representative during Hurricane Isabel.
Sallie Greisman and husband Tom came in first place in a ballroom-dance competition held in the Poconos in October. The couple scored top honors in the “newcomers” category for a cha-cha routine to Santana’s Smooth; they are now gearing up for the associate bronze level this summer.
Bardes Haase and wife Christina welcomed baby Cecelia into the family last March. She joins sisters Katrina, 6, and Rosemary, 4.
Annette Van Osdol Kobylak continues to “whirl around within the vortex” created by children Charlie, 6, and Annabelle, 4.
Mark Nathan claims that “the second time is a charm” when seeking a soul mate. Mark resides in “beautiful” New Jersey, heading up licensing and sales for Forever Collectibles.
Susan Staempfli Nguyen is enjoying her new life as full-time mom to twins Matt and Lucy, born in November.
Cynthia Comeau Risku lives in Chapel Hill, NC, with her husband and two daughters. A happy stay-at-home mom, she is active in town and school issues and volunteer commitments. She is tinkering with photography as a new career.
