Since last January Libby Cox and Aaron Dembe have called Austin, TX, home. They love the “great music, beautiful landscape, and laid-back, funky, fun, and sweet people.” Libby is pursuing teaching certification in two areas: high-school art in Waldorf schools and intermediate- and advanced-level yoga. She works as a caregiver for an elderly woman and also teaches French and drawing at the Austin Waldorf School. Aaron, who teaches guitar, mandolin, and bass lessons, has a few music projects going around town. He’s also busy fixing cars and baking excellent bread. Libby and Aaron also love their garden.
Adam Stein lives in Hoboken, NJ, where he is a second-year law student at Seton Hall. An adjunct assistant professor of biology at St. Johns University, he’s also working for a federal judge this summer.
After spending about a year at home in Connecticut, working as a veterinary technician by day and a waitress by night, Nichole Fortin set off for New Zealand on a work visa. She is currently on the South Island, ina town called Wanaka, and getting in as much hiking as possible. She can be reached at nichole_fortin@hotmail.com.
Floryn Glass lives at home in Long Island and teaches dance and acting to children in NYC, where she also studies whenever possible. She danced in two NYC showcases earlier this year. Last year she toured the Midwest for six months, acting and directing with Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre. This summer Floryn performed with the repertory company of Galveston Island Musicals in Texas.
Brendan Bush lives in DC and is working on John Kerry’s presidential campaign. He hopes to be out in the field in one of the battleground states in the coming months.
In December Corinne Ferrara completed a term as an Americorps VISTA volunteer in Tucson, AZ. She worked on the federally funded Project Achieve, creating children’s educational programs for Title I schools. She is now living in Washington, DC, where she works as a meetings and development coordinator for the American Political Science Association.
After attending Middlebury College’s summer Spanish school, Brendan Hurley moved to Cali, Colombia, where he worked in the economics department of ICESI University. Traveling throughout Latin America and Colombia with students and professors for over a year, Brendan was “awestruck by the beauty and excitement of this amazing South American country.” Now back in NYC, he is employed in the emerging-markets sales department of Morgan Stanley and slowly adapting to Wall Street.
After spending two amazing years in the Pacific Northwest, Jenna Ringelheim is heading back east to pursue a master’s in urban and environmental policy and planning at Tufts University. She enjoyed spending this spring in Portland, WA, where she ran into Juan Martinez, Jessica Infanger, and Thomasin Levin.
Katie Schou and Jenn Smith live in Jackson Hole, WY, where Katie is a ski host at a resort and Jenn works in a wildlife photography art gallery.
Kathy Tschampel Morgan finished her master’s in education and teaching certification at Pepperdine University in January. She teaches kindergarten in Carlsbad, CA, where she lives with husband Robert, whom she married last May. “It’s been an outstanding and happy year for both of us,” says Kathy.
Scott Gifis’s daughter Kylie was born in April 2003.
Heather Martin is an analyst for Decision Resources Inc., a research and advisory firm focusing on pharmaceutical and health-care issues.
Marti Wolfson relocated to Great Barrington, MA, to work as a Pilates instructor in the movement therapy department of Canyon Ranch Health Resort and Spa in Lenox. An apprentice in the Gyrotonic Expansion System, she performed at Jacob’s Pillow dance theater in July.
Textile artist and businesswoman Betsy Motter was cited as a poster child for any city’s economic rebirth in the Lancaster New Era (PA) newspaper. She opened an upscale clothing boutique, the Dutchess of Duke, in a downtown office building that she had restored to its original glory. Betsy worked with her mother, Nancy Cook Motter ’76, to find an architect and workers to renovate the property.
Bryn Mars and Alison Pruchansky live together in Washington, DC, where Bryn works at Georgetown University and completed her first marathon in April. Bryn was also roped into working at a local theater by Eliza Lay ’03, whom she sees often. Alison, who is bartending and waiting tables in Georgetown, paints and sells her work, and contributes her time to various museums and galleries. “Neither of us is sure what’s in store for the future,” Alison observes, “but we are looking forward to great things!”
Joey Pohle lives in Port St. Lucie, FL, where he is the first assistant golf professional at the PGA Country Club. He is enjoying the sunny south but plans to move back north in a few years.
Thomas Vacanti received an MFA in dance at Smith College this spring. As of September he’ll be artistic director of the Academy of Performing Arts in Orleans, MA.
Mike Bialokur lives in NYC where he works for Elson Enterprises, a travel industry conglomerate. He will begin a JD at Brooklyn Law School in August.
