Object lesson

An antique clock, a head of Buddha, and a cabbage—finding connections among such disparate objects was a key assignment in a faculty seminar led by artist Fred Wilson this spring. As Skidmore’s Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Object, Exhibition, and Knowledge, Wilson is charged with sparking creative interplay between the curriculum and the Tang Museum by helping a wide range of faculty integrate museum objects and approaches in their teaching. Internationally known for his art and installations that challenge cultural assumptions, Wilson will return for two more spring semesters, supported by a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation. —BAM
