Spring Sports | Senior standouts win kudos Senior standouts win kudos Skidmore bestowed this year's Senior Athlete Awards on field hockey All-American Colleen Barber '04 and golf All-American Ross Morgan '04; Barber also won the Senior Scholar-Athlete Award. A first-team All-American in three of her four years, Barber is a midfielder who consistently specialized in assists: last fall she was the Division III national leader, with 21 assists on the season. She is a four-time UCAA All-Star; in 2003 she was the UCAA and ECAC Player of the Year. During Barber's career the field hockey team compiled a 63-14 record. In 2003, for the second straight time, the Thoroughbreds took the UCAA title and advanced as far as the Division III national championship quarterfinals. A summa cum laude graduate in psychology, Barber is a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-America and a three-time UCAA All-Academic honoree. This year Morgan led the Skidmore golfers to their eighteenth consecutive berth at Division III nationals. The two-time GCAA All-America Scholar and four-time UCAA All-Star added honorable-mention All-America honors this year. Morgan finished among the top ten in seventeen tournaments during his collegiate career; he took first place in the 2003 ECAC Division III tournament. With Morgan's help, the Skidmore golf team this year claimed its ninth straight UCAA title and third straight ECAC championship. |
