After waiting out a long winter, Massachusetts resident Tibby VanNess Reid says a final 10 inches of snow was deposited on her lawn in mid-March. By May she happily reported the lawn was emerald green.
During a February visit to Palm Beach, FL, Lee Goldstein Garlock caught up with several local alumnae, including me. Lee, Louise Samuels Schindler, and I enjoyed a wonderful long lunch filled with nostalgia and laughter.
Jean Figarsky Reiner, who married and left Skidmore before graduating, was featured in the Palm Beach Post. Although she has lung cancer, Jean plays nine holes of golf twice a week and lives a vibrant, full life.
In June Jean Schnabel Bailey and husband Doug traveled to Hong Kong, where Doug was installed as a district governor of Lion’s Club International.
Marie Ryder Riley recovered well from hip-replacement surgery in January. Sadly, her husband of 55 years, Bud, passed away in 2004. Marie and Bud had made many Skidmore friends over the years and cherished happy times at the college.
We extend our condolences to the family of the late Sally Holland Alberts; her husband, John, died in February. A decorated combat pilot in World War II, John was also a veteran of many of our reunions. We will miss his good-natured humor.
