Evalyn Zoda Shippee and husband Bob rented a house in Marco Island, FL, which they opened up to visiting Skidmore friends. On several occasions Jean Gracie Lifland and husband John, who own a condo in Naples, joined the Shippees for dinner and lots of laughs. The Shippees also entertained three alumnae from the Class of ’57.

Jane Haddad Evans and husband Bob stopped by the Shippees’ place for a visit while staying in nearby Ft. Myers. Syl Smalley Chapman and husband John, who spend winters near Tampa, were also guests of the Shippees for several days. “Everyone,” says Ev, “looks forward to a western Florida reunion next year.” After the winter in Florida, Ev and husband headed home to visit their 13 grandchildren.

Helen Halpern Lerner traveled to India last winter. She had a great time and learned a lot about the culture. The Lerners are both working but still make time to see their four grandchildren.

“Seeing classmates and old friends at our 45th reunion was a great joy,” notes Patricia O’Rourke Murrell. In 1959 Pat left a pair of pearls at the home of Linda Amerling Scull, which Linda recently returned to her. During the intervening 40 years, each of Linda’s three daughters wore the pearls at their weddings, making them “very special” to her.

Bev Sanders Payne reports that four students have become beneficiaries of the Class of 1959 Scholarship Fund, “so graciously led” by Sue Kettering Williamson and Janet Lucas Whitman.

Both Sheila DeNadel Salvo and I attended a February dinner held in honor of the scholars and their benefactors at the Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs. We met President Glotzbach and snapped a few photos of him and the student recipients. It was an exciting evening!

Sandy Bendfeldt sent a postcard announcing her cabaret performance in NYC in April.

Sue Clark Jorgensen sent a correction to the news about her in the last issue of Scope: “It was after 35 years of marriage that I regained my single status. But with a stroke of someone’s pen I mysteriously gained a husband! If life were so simple.”

On a personal note, I had a total hip replacement in March and am on the mend.
