In Baltimore, MD, Nancy Bailey Allchin loves living at Broadmead, the retirement community she and Dick moved to four years ago. They attended the wedding of a grandson at the Museum of Industry at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Nancy reports that Dick battles the computer as he works on complicated financial charts and gets around well on his scooter. The two play bridge with old friends, get periodic visits from their children, and participate in the multitude of activities offered by Broadmead.

Betty Bryan Rosenbaum also enjoys the amenities available in her retirement community, including railings and grab bars, which help in lieu of her desire for two new legs. Daughter Hazel, retired after 35 years of teaching high-school biology, is able to spend more time with Betty.

Faith Hope Barnard could not make it to Reunion because of husband Dave’s back problem, from which he is slowly getting better. They did spend several weeks in the Chicago area, seeing offspring and grandchildren; the entire family had last gathered in France almost 20 years ago.
Jinnie Copithorne Pollin and Jack enjoyed a Black Sea–area tour that cruised eight different waterways and countries.

Last summer Jan Peters Gardiner had arthroscopic surgery for a torn meniscus in her right knee; in October she was able to drive a car again. She misses chatting with Katie Horrie Salwitz, who died last year.

Franc Schmerhorn Sherley had a total replacement of her right knee last summer. Her recovery was complicated by husband Warren’s hospitalization with pneumonia and other problems. Fran is hoping physical therapy will get her back on the tennis court in short order.

Connie Seeley Andrews had been grateful that they encountered no hurricanes in Cocoa Beach, FL, but then a tornado came up suddenly when she was in the pool at their condo. (No damage, luckily.)

Lois Sevigny Hollenbeck’s daughter writes that Lois lives in a nursing home in Valatie, NY. Husband Martin passed away in 2000. Lois continues to follow Skidmore-related news and has fond memories of her years and associations.

Joan Simon Barr has been working at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco since 1981. She is a docent, architectural guide, and editor of publications. Husband Richard is a retired physician; her sons are a banker and a lawyer. The Barrs live in Marin County, CA, and travel often.
