Jean Cranse Larsen and husband Dick hosted their 50th wedding anniversary party at a country club in New Jersey last October. For the black-tie affair, a Peter Duchin–style band supplied the kind of dance music we were used to 50 years ago. MaryAnne Wade Menk celebrated with them, reliving her bridesmaid position. Several of Dick’s fraternity brothers from RPI enjoyed the memorable evening.

Bascha Mon, formerly Bobbi Grubman, sent news that her husband, David Stein, passed away a year ago after two years of declining health. Bascha’s recovery has taken time, but she is back in her studio, producing a new series of paintings. She did a tsunami series in 2005. She also works at a library and teaches painting. Her older son is a partner in a NYC law firm, and his daughters are both in college. Bascha’s younger son is a psychoanalyst with an office in Manhattan and also writes about music (he had been a concert pianist); his sons are 2 and 5.

Cornelia Tauber, an art major who finished her college credits at Hunter College, says she was delighted to have her Skidmore diploma handed to her by Dean Norma MacCrury in 1970. Divorced, Mimi has worked for Exxon, W. R. Grace, and Meridian Oil. Since retiring 10 years ago, she has been in an independent-living section of a Christian Living Center. Mimi has won blue ribbons in art shows; her entry in a juried National Audubon Society exhibit was pictured in the show’s catalogue. She enjoys taking birdwatching trips with the Audubon Society, and she used to hike with the Colorado Mountain Club until undergoing back surgery in 1992. She misses Betty Hauser, our former class secretary; they were always in touch, having gone to high school together.

Our class president, Carol Claflin Kurtz, had a lumpectomy and is undergoing chemotherapy with radiation to follow. She is counting on classmates to help with planning our 55th reunion and would love to hear from you.

Gabrielle Fuchs had a visit with Norma Morse Edelman and Dorothy Foster Napoli over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The group is now checking out spa offerings in Calistoga, CA.

Sue Dorr Cairns loves having children and grandchildren close by. She and her husband, who is retired, are very busy and like it that way. They’ve recently traveled to China and Japan, which they found to be a great change from Europe. Sue sees Ann Adams ’52 often and stays in touch with Boston alumnae.
