Margot Solomon married Andrew Bagon in December at her family’s home in Douglaston, NY. Andrew teaches law at Bayside High School, and Margot is associate director of psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.
Cyndy Comeau Risku and her family live in Chapel Hill, NC. Her oldest daughter, a high-school freshman, owns a quarterhorse named ABlazing Super Star and shows in local open circuits and AQHA shows. Cyndy’s younger daughter is in fourth grade.
Carrie Grady rode 50 miles in preparation for a 100-mile bicycle tour around Lake Tahoe in June. “Nice to ride that much; I can eat whatever I want after that effort,” she says.
Rayona Taylor Bennett and Liz Cowey LaCause caught up over Easter break. Liz’s daughter Sarah, 12, and son Michael, 9, were a great match for Rayona’s daughter Caroline, 10, and son Taylor, 8. The group spent an afternoon sightseeing in Washington, DC, followed by a more relaxed visit in St. Michaels to reminisce about Skidmore days.
In March Lisa Bogart started a new job in account management for Echo Torre Lazur, a pharmaceutical advertising agency in East Hanover, NJ. She is focused on two Sepracor brands, Xopenex and Brovana, which treat asthma. Lisa’s hometown of Bound Brook was devastated by
the April floods. Three shelters were opened to accommodate about 700 people. Lisa can be contacted at labogart@juno.com.
Jessica Kaplan Seidel and David Seidel, married in 2005, are pleased to announce the birth of their son Daniel on March 28.
Vinca Liane Jarrett made a major career shift from environmental litigation to entertainment law some years ago. Traveling to industry events in Cannes, Toronto, and Berlin, she focuses on feature films—most recently, the urban rock musical Doorman; Disappearances, starring Kris Kristofferson and shot in Vermont; and the controversial documentary Mission to Matrimony, about legal issues underlying gay marriage. Vinca is a principal in two new companies: North East Production Capital (which buys film tax credits from filmmakers and resells them to state-based taxpayers) and FilmPro Finance Events & Conferences (which produces film-financing occasions for investors, producers, corporations, and governments worldwide). She is also partnered with Focus Films, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Magnolia Finance, and Film Production Capital on an independent feature film slated to launch later this year. Vinca has stayed connected with Jamie Mandle, Nick Yellin, Maria DeMarco, and Cyndy Erickson Zarker ’84 and was thrilled to reconnect with Jed Garfield, Claire Poth, Amy Bancroft, and C. F. Sample and others at our last reunion. She hung out with Sue Sabini and Christine Lauber (who transferred out of Skidmore) in Denver earlier this year. She welcomes Skiddies in the film and finance industry to get in touch. Check out her Web site at www.vincajarrett.com.
Kirsten Hube Sweeney’s gourmet sauces are now in many stores throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut—including Whole Foods Markets, Zabars, and Food Emporium. She is working with a broker to get the products placed in stores elsewhere in New England and southern Jersey. Her private label business with Balduccis is flourishing. She says, “My husband, Mark, and daughters Anna and Maggie are very supportive, although things get a little crazy at times!” She makes many business calls while carpooling to lacrosse and soccer games. Bruce Burdge loves the weather and boating in Tampa, FL. The company he started three years ago, Arcis Investments, is doing well but is a lot of work. Bruce visited Skidmore last summer when his seventh-grade daughter Taylor attended Skidmore Summer Science Institute for Girls, which he highly recommends. Bruce and wife Katherine also have a son, Spencer, 9.
