National nods. Four Skidmore teams vied for national championships during the spring season. Golf. Playing in their twenty-second straight NCAA Division III national tournament, the T’breds finished 5th; defending champ St. John’s took 1st. Tobin Spector ’08 came in 10th to earn his third All-America citation, and Chris DeJohn ’10 went All-America with his 15th-place finish.
Riding. Skidmore again made it to the IHSA nationals. The team tied St. Lawrence and Findlay for
second place and reserve-champion status, behind winner University of Kentucky. Andrea Hippeau ’08 took first place in the individual novice-over-fences class; Hanae Kimura ’11 took a first in the team walk-trot-canter.
Tennis. The women played in their twelfth Division III national tourney, where they beat Suffolk before losing to Amherst. Rachael Loeb ’11 (left) was Liberty League Rookie of the Year. The men won the Liberty championship and went on to their first national tournament, where they got stopped by Bowdoin. Carl-Eric Girardin ’11, along with head coach Nate Simms and assistant coach Tyler McKechnie ’07, earned Liberty honors.
Crew. The women’s varsity eight was ranked 10th nationally in the final Division III poll by row2K.com. The boat finished 5th at the NYS championship grand final, 4th in the ECAC National Invitational petite final, and 3rd in the Liberty League grand final. The men’s varsity four won the Liberty gold medal, came in 4th at states, and took 7th at the ECAC National Invite by winning the petite final.
Lacrosse. Skidmore went 7-7, dropping hard-fought one-goal games to Clarkson and St. Lawrence. Matt Levesque ’10,
