I had a great talk with Blackie Drisko Shaw, who splits her time between Florida and Milford, NY. Blackie and her husband recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their entire clan on hand. The couple was in Italy during last spring’s Skidmore reunion, staying in a hotel where her youngest son was married seven years ago.
Dottie Dutton Donahue and Doug celebrated their 60th anniversary in Scituate Harbor, ME, with three generations attending. Dottie misses not having a boat there any longer. She keeps busy at her health club four days a week.
Natalie Wolf Goetz is recovering from surgery; her husband informed me that she is doing fine.
Dorothy Rogers Dewey called me to report the death of Grace Gale Jones’s husband, Ace. Dorothy told how the letters G and R had smudged on Grace’s freshman bib, so Dorothy called her “Ace.” Ace had married Ace. The class sends its deepest sympathy.
I am saddened to report that Virginia Miller Lyon, who’s twin, Mary, died recently, has now also lost her younger sister, Nancy, to Lou Gehrig’s disease.
I contacted Polly Deppen Whedon, who is being treated for polymyalgia, which she hopes won’t keep her off the golf course. Polly’s husband, Bill, made my clubs a few years back, and I still love them, especially my #7 wood. I wish Lee Schmied Danner of Georgia was nearby so we could all play together.
Please note that I am no longer using e-mail. Feel free to call me at the number listed above.
