Helen Edelman planned a May 2008 wedding at the Saratoga Hotel for her eldest daughter, Morgan, who married Jeffrey Friedlander of Dallas. Morgan is finishing a PhD in consumer behavior and teaches at the University of Texas at Austin. Jeff is a VP for ING. Helen’s three other children—Taber, Jacob, and Jonah—continue to amaze and dismay her, alternately; she realizes that “the generation that wears its hats backwards is taking over the world.” She continues to write for many publications, from her study at home. She remembers when Skidmore professors shuddered at the thought of a course in journalism, which they considered a trade, and how grateful she was to Professor Robert Boyers—still inspiring and advocating for students—for believing in her goals and “going to the mat” on her behalf.

Kate Sanford Garvey’s daughter Meghan ’11 is a sophomore majoring in social work. She is very happy at Skidmore and active in various music and social action groups. Her sister Christine graduated from Cornell in the spring and will return to Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine in the fall. Kate and husband John live in Victor, NY. Kate is the childbirth-education coordinator at Highland Hospital in Rochester.

After teaching practically full-time since graduation, Meg Tipper has retired. She looks forward to reading, writing, traveling, gardening, waking up without the alarm, and not having to wear a bra!

Sue Taylor’s daughter Katherine Jacobs ’08 continues Sue’s family tradition, being the third generation to graduate from Skidmore. Katherine’s grandmother is the late Mary-Earle McConnell Wiant ’48.

Arlene Goldberg Thrope and husband David are empty-nesters. Son Jonathan completed his sophomore year at Amherst, and Glenn, who graduated from Yale last May, is pursuing a career in software engineering in northern California. Arlene volunteers as dinosaur docent at Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, gallery guide at Norwalk Maritime Aquarium, mentor to a second-grade girl, and member of the Westport (CT) Women’s Club scholarship committee. She also enjoys playing classical piano. David is a partner at a “Big 4” accounting firm in NYC. The Thropes enjoy getting together with Debbie Silberstein and husband Fred, who are weekend Westport residents.

For Lynne Catero Weinlandt, it seems just like yesterday that she was dropping off her twin boys at nursery school. Now 15, they both attend Regis High School in Manhattan and absolutely love almost every moment there. The residential real-estate market has slowed a bit, but their recently adopted dog fills a lot of Lynne’s spare time. Lynne would love to hear from Skidmore friends at lweinlandt@halstead.com.

Rosemeryl Sanders Harple has three sons: Jeremy, David, and Chad, and two beautiful grandchildren. She has been happily married to Glen for 33 years. As an RN case manager for APS Healthcare, Rosemeryl helps Medicaid recipients deal with chronic diseases and improve their health. Chad graduated from Yale in 2006, Jeremy is a musician (jeremyharple.com), and David is an electrician.

Title I program director and reading specialist Pamela Condon Davis left public-school administration to follow a lifelong dream of being a classroom teacher. She now teaches a classroom of 25 lively third-grade students. Pam has also recently become a grandmother. Daughter Carolina has two children. Son John is a high-school junior in Amherst, MA.
