Kate Cheney Myhre is Web-site manager for the Boston Consulting Group and uses the design firm of Phoebe Smith ’95 for graphic work and page design. Sherie Gillman Barge and husband Wally welcomed daughter Emily on April 14; she joins sisters Anna and Nicole.
Tyler Colman and Michelle Sinclair Colman announce the arrival of son Nate. His brother Zander showers Nate with kisses and hugs all day long. Michelle’s newest book, Eco Babies Wear Green (Tricycle Press), was published in April, just in time for Earth Day. This is the fifth book in her successful Urban Babies Wear Black series of children’s board books. Tyler’s book, Wine Politics: How Governments, Environmentalists, Mobsters, and Critics Influence the Wines We Drink (University of California Press), hit shelves this summer.
John Hampshire is an assistant professor of art at Adirondack Community College in Troy, NY. He had a solo show this spring at The Show Walls of the ICP Building in Manhattan and taught this summer at Skidmore.
Courtney McGrath Bauman and husband Joey welcomed their first child, Oliver, on January 3—which was also Courtney’s 36th birthday. The Baumans live in Livingston, MT, an hour north of Yellowstone National Park. Courtney programs Web sites for PrintingForLess.com.
John “Bones” Rodriguez got to promote his book Captain Kirk’s Guide to Women: How to Romance Any Woman in the Galaxy (Simon & Schuster) on national TV when he appeared on Fox and Friends.
Bryan Smith lives in NYC and works for the NY Daily News as a photojournalist. He was recently honored by the New York Press Photographers Association (first place and honorable mention for a sports feature, and honorable mention in the sports-action category) for his work covering the August 2007 season at the Saratoga Race Course.
Heather McClure married Timothy Fowler in October in Sonoma, CA. They live in Santa Fe.
Kathy Jubitz and husband Steve welcomed second child Annabel last May. The family moved to Montana to be closer to some free baby-sitting in Oregon.
We were saddened to learn of the loss of Richard McNairy (noted in the last Scope). I had the privilege of working with him when he directed the New Hope Gospel Ensemble at Skidmore. He was a positive and patient teacher, and his spirit was infectious. He will be sincerely missed.
I always enjoy the opportunity to catch up with classmates. I spent time with Kirstin O’Rielly Drabek when I visited the Skidmore campus in January. She is doing really well, living in Saratoga Springs and working at the college. I was happy to set down some professional roots again this spring when I joined Scholastic in the children’s book publishing group, overseeing advertising and marketing operations. Riding the exciting freelance rollercoaster for a few years was fun, rewarding, and educational on so many levels, but it was time for a change.
