Kylee Allen is pursuing a master’s in intercultural relations at Lesley University. She hopes to become an international-student advisor. 

Brooke Miller, at the Scripps Research Institute in Florida, has won a Young Investigator Travel Award from the International Behavioural and Neural Genetics Society. In May she presented her research on the genetic basis of depression at the 10th Annual Genes, Brain, and Behavior Meeting in Portland, OR. She was also awarded a three-year postdoctoral grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to support related work on depressive behaviors.

Cristine Burgermaster is membership and volunteer coordinator at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. She helps coordinate weekend concerts and other events and enjoys the combination of art, music, horticulture, and history. She says, “The Gardner encompasses a wide variety of cultural interests… the word ‘interdisciplinary’ comes to mind!”

Sarah Kemmerer Cipperly and husband Dan welcomed their first child, Claire, on March 12. Sarah is enjoying her maternity leave from Atlanta Legal Aid, where she is a staff attorney and director of the Cobb County volunteer attorney program.

In March Julie Combal exhibited paintings at the Pool Art Fair at the Hotel Chelsea in NYC.

Crystal Morrison Kasdin and husband Chad Kasdin ’97 had a busy winter with the birth of son Cooper on January 14. Son Louie, 2, is still not sure what he thinks of his baby brother. Chad is a partner at Hinshaw and Culbertson in Chicago and represents clients including the White Sox. Crystal has put her legal career on hold to be a full-time mom. She speaks with Rebecca Horst, who has two boys of her own, Luke and Andrew.

Gabrielle Mitchell-Marell is a consultant at UNICEF, contributing to reports on child survival. Gabrielle stays in touch with Christy Coleman, who is finishing her third year of architecture school at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles and living in Silver Lake, CA, and also with Kristyn Allen Zimmerman, who earned a master’s in education in May. Kristyn lives in Portland, ME.

Neda Hajizadeh is interning at North Central Hospital in the Bronx as part of her quest to receive a PhD in counseling psychology. She lives with her husband in Forte Greene, Brooklyn.

Suzy Obuck is freelancing with various arts organizations, such as the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation, a downtown Brooklyn arts and culture nonprofit. She is doing social-action yoga-teacher training with Jill Satterfield. Graduates learn to use yoga and Buddhist meditation as complementary therapies for at-risk youth, substance abusers, and people dealing with chronic pain and illness. Suzy is also training for capoeira, a Brazilian-based combination of dance, music, and athletic games, at Raizes do Brasil’s Capoeira in Brooklyn location and loves it. She is very much looking forward to her first group capoeira event, known as a batizado, this fall.

Dana VanWoerden Skoglund and husband Chris live in Manhattan, where Dana teaches yoga.

Elisa Freeman Smith and husband Brett welcomed daughter Zoe on Leap Day.

Back at Skidmore for the first time in six years, Kate Thomas was excited about sharing her experience as a veterinarian at a career-services event this past spring.

Skidmore polo alumna Arwa Damon produced a one-hour documentary about the war through the eyes of Iraqis that was broadcast on CNN in April (click here to read more).
