Alumni affairs leadership changes

Michael Sposili is Skidmore’s new director of alumni affairs. He succeeds Mary Solomons, who served for five years before moving down the hall to become director of college events and stewardship.

Sposili comes from Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y., where he was executive director of college relations, coordinating Hartwick’s alumni, parent, and community relations programs. He fostered fundraising efforts, boosted attendance at college events, and helped launch new alumni clubs.

Sposili is a Hartwick alumnus himself, earning a bachelor’s in political science, with a management minor, in 1990. After graduation he served as assistant director of admissions at Hartwick and then director of enrollment management at Miss Hall’s School in Pittsfield, Mass. From 1995 to 1999 Sposili worked in admissions for the Sage Colleges in Troy, N.Y., reaching the rank of assistant vice president for admissions and financial aid. During that time Sposili also volunteered for Hartwick, sitting on its alumni association board of directors.

“Having worked with a number of constituent groups including prospective students and their parents, trustees, alumni, and members of the community,” he says, “I appreciate the efficiencies and synergistic relationships that can be achieved by an effective volunteer program.” He adds, “I’m especially excited about Skidmore’s commitment to the liberal arts, preparing its graduates as skilled and ethical decision makers for the world of tomorrow.”

Sposili officially began his duties in mid-December.
