Tibetan traditions
Monks from Gaden Monastery in India explain and perform Tibetan Buddhist music and dance. The monks were on a North Ameri-can tour to share their culture and raise funds for construction of a new prayer hall at the monastery.

First established in 1409 near Lhasa, Tibet, the monastery was destroyed in 1959 by the Chinese army. The current facility, built in 1969 in Mundgod, India, houses more than 3,000 monks, ages 6 to 80.
Sponsors of the performance at Skidmore included Students for a Free Tibet.
