Suited Up

In 1919, the days of the Skidmore School of Arts, bloomers and stockings were accepted athletic wear for girls. Sailor-style blouses—with those treacherous ties that would cry out “personal-injury lawsuit” in today’s culture—completed the sporting attire. College basketball players nowadays wear men’s-style shorts and singlets—simple, loose, breezy. And who needs socks?
