Penalty box.
Sanctions were meted out in the wake of an off-campus party with Skidmore ice-hockey players and would-be rookies. The incident, widely reported in area newspapers, was investigated by college authorities and found to have involved underage drinking in an atmosphere tantamount to hazing. As a result, the hockey team’s co-captains were removed from leadership and suspended from hockey for the fall semester, and six other team members were off the ice for one month. The eight players, along with six freshmen, were also required to complete community service and other projects.

Fall highlights.
Soccer. Going 13-6-1 (for its best season in a decade), the women’s soccer squad earned a first-time Liberty League playoff bid. The team fell to league-champion Hamilton in the semifinals. Morgan Cadwell ’06 was a first-team All-Star.Volleyball. Ending at 25-8, the team made the league championship finals but succumbed, 3-2, to Vassar, spoiling a shot at nationals. Darryl Manzer ’07 was Player of the Year; Skidmore also won Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Golf. The team won the ECAC Division III championship for the fourth straight year. Charlie Kromann ’05 (pictured) and Mike Butler ’07 made the Liberty League first team.

Riding. Skidmore aced the IHSA Tournament of Champions Preseason Classic, with wins by Pearl Higgins ’05 in walk/trot and Erina Malarkey ’05 at intermediate on the flat.
