Eleanor Boaz Cowen still misses calling her Skidmore roommate, Issy Shaw Osburn, who died in February 2003. Despite having to slow down to accommodate health concerns, Eleanor enjoyed 16 days in Nova Scotia; Prince Edward Island; New Brunswick, ME; and Boston in October.

After viewing Scope’s faculty-dogs feature (fall ’04 issue), Florida resident Faith Hope Barnard was moved to send a photo of her golden retriever dressed in a stars-and-stripes scarf for the Christmas after 9/11. Adopted from the pound, he was voted “mutt strut” of the year, and Faith says, “he has brought many smiles when visiting nursing homes.”
