Nancy Lang covered the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC, for an Austrian opera magazine. While there she caught up with Leona Sobel, who came to see an 18-hour Chinese opera, The Peony Pavillion (staged in six separate episodes). Lonnie is involved with local museum activities and says the arts are doing well in her area.

Set and I recently returned from back-to-back cruises. The first sailed from London to Lisbon, and gave us an opportunity to visit the fabulous Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. We then flew to Lyon, France, for a trip on the Saone and Rhone Rivers, during which we enjoyed lovely scenery and great food and wine. Earlier this season we flew to Peru, where we visited ancient Indian ruins and Machu Picchu. The trip functioned as a stress test, since most of the sites were at 7,000 to 14,000 feet.
