Last May Mollie Klee Heron and Barbara Bentley Brower enjoyed a trip to Italy, including a three-day hike at Cinque Terre and a five-day stay in Florence. Molly thanks all the faithful donors who contributed to the annual fund.
In July Lynn Pringle Anastos and Ted, along with their two children and spouses, plus five grandchildren, enjoyed a 40th-anniversary celebration in Park City, UT, for a week. While at home, they enjoy summer on the water, sitting on the porch and watching all the boats and swimmers along the beach.
Nancy Smith Bushnell enjoys having her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren Oliver, 2, and Lily, 3 months old, nearby in Lakeville, CT. “I am getting to be a full-time grandmother at last!” Nancy enjoyed a lazy summer with time on the golf course and in her garden.
Three weeks in China, including a cruise on the Yangtze River, kept Twila Fleckten Wolfe busy this summer. She was also recovering from surgery on a torn meniscus, which cut short skiing and tennis. She continues to sell real estate and enjoys visits to Scottsdale, AZ, to see her 3-year-old grandson and his parents. She also paid a visit to her daughter (a dentist) and son-in-law—both Skidmore alums—in Austin, TX. In September Twila accompanied her husband to the Masters Horse Show at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Alberta, where he defeated all the horses in the driving event with his mule. She also spent a week in New York enjoying opera, plays, museums, and attending a wedding.
Brenda Baekey Mihan took a “Cruise to Nowhere” in June for a three-day getaway, which was “too short.” In July she took a great trip with friends to Lake George.
Jenny Tobie Robbins made a major move in August from Waltham, MA, to Albuquerque, NM. She is enjoying having free time for the first time in her life, and looks forward to part-time work and spending more time outdoors. Having two granddaughters in Albuquerque was an added incentive for the big change. She can be contacted at jrobbins62@alumni.skidmore.edu.
Joan Todd Lewis is enjoying retirement from school nursing. Bob continues to work as a wills-and-estate attorney. They enjoyed a trip to Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks, hiking and photographing the beautiful California scenery.
After 20 years as a travel consultant (the agency eventually closed because of the decline in travel after 9/11), Janice Sachs Davis has started her own home-based company, Travel Connections LLC. The flexibility allows her to read and spend time with her four grandchildren. She did much of the planning for her daughter’s wedding last April. In August she and husband Steve cruised the Adriatic to celebrate their 41st wedding anniversary. Janice welcomes hearing from classmates at trvljand@hotmail.com.
Karen Schnall Barash and husband Stan Weiss have settled into their new house at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The couple escaped last summer’s heat by traveling north to visit their daughter and her family in New Hampshire. “The highlight, as always, is seeing my two adorable granddaughters.” Later in Manhattan, the couple visited with Stan’s daughters and Karen’s sister, who flew in from her home in Hawaii.
September travel for Lollie Engel Triebold and husband Dave started in Helsinki and continued on to Moscow by way of St. Petersburg. Among the highlights were a visit to the Hermitage, the ballet in St. Petersburg (where they ran into former travel companions), the Moscow subways (an artistic treat), and a reunion with an exchange student.
My news was erroneously attributed to Lollie Triebold in the fall ’04 issue of Scope. In fact it was I, Lynn Garrett Meyer, not Lollie, who spent three weeks traveling in Brazil and Peru last spring and I, not Lollie, who enjoyed a visit from Joyce Harder Nielsen and her Siberian husky.
George and I spent most of September in France. We had two weddings to attend and explored the Pyrenees, hiking, visiting small villages, riding a boat on an underground river, and driving very slowly on mountain roads to avoid hitting farm animals. We spent a week in Provence for the second wedding, enjoying our newest sport, canyoning.
