Barney Straus provides group therapy and facilitates team-building activities with groups at a low-ropes course—“a great modality to use with high-school students.” He is an adjunct professor at Roosevelt University’s Schaumburg, IL, campus.

Martin Daniels, Andrew Engel, and Tom Brandt, tri-captains of the infamous SS DanEngelBrandt and winners of the “Better Late Than Never” prize at the wacky freshman-year boat race, reunited for Tom’s wedding to Susan Knaak on September 26 in West Norwalk, CT. Also attending were Martin’s wife, Amy Kennedy Daniels ’87, and Ray Hampton ’84. Tom is the CEO of TransLux Corporation, and Susan is an art teacher at Wilton High School.

Judith Hoye-Frank is an abstract painter (multimedia) and aspiring ceramic artist. Husband Jonathan is a landscape artist working in watercolor and ink. The couple has spent the past year on the road, promoting and selling his work through art festivals around the country—which has been “great fun and very successful.”

Eric Cole and wife Grace live in Marblehead, MA, with son Ethan, 4. After 18 years with Fidelity Investments, Eric joined cMarket Inc. as senior VP of business development. cMarket specializes in online fundraising auctions for nonprofit organizations. Eric became involved with the firm while participating in the Pan Massachusetts Challenge to raise money for the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Peter Atkins co-founded a company that developed retirement care communities for the elderly, returned to business school in 1989, and then went to work for Time Inc. in NYC. In 1995 he moved to Seattle, WA, to help Microsoft launch many of its consumer Internet ventures, including Expedia and Sidewalk. In 2001 he launched his own investment partnership (Permian Partners), focused on Internet-related businesses, and has been “having a lot of fun” working for himself. Peter and wife Sandy have two children, ages 8 and 6. The family enjoys outdoor activities, having the mountains, the sound, and “a ton of lakes” nearby.

Deborah Herzog Humphries, husband Peyton, and children Catherine, 11, and Thomas, 9, have relocated to Virginia after a two-year stint in Denver, CO. Although the family misses life out west, they are enjoying the small but vibrant colonial town of Williamsburg. A stay-at-home-mom for the last three years, Deborah is ready to return to graphic production work in advertising. She welcomes hearing from classmates at pdct1234@cs.com.

Meg Beirnes Champion lives outside Savannah, GA, where she is IT manager for the retail division of Hugo Boss. Meg, who divorced two years ago, has three children: Caitlin, 10, a competitive cheerleader; and two sons, ages 6 and 4, who love soccer and baseball.

Jonathan Edwards and wife Katie welcomed first child Maxwell in September. The family lives in the western Massachusetts town of Whately, where Jonathan was elected town selectman last May. His first priority, however, is reading Maxwell the baseball box scores, other sports happenings, and the political news of the day.

Megan Sanford Beautyman bought a townhouse in Plymouth Meeting, PA, where she lives with children Michael, a high-school senior, and Alexandra, a sophomore. Megan substitute-teaches and does landscaping work. She got together with roommate Martha Seidner Gelber this past summer.

In December 2003 Eugenia Quasnosky-Brockett welcomed daughter Alana, who keeps siblings Julia, 10, Jimmy, 8, and Gregory, 5, very busy. According to mom, Alana is “the final chapter in our family.” Eugenia is looking forward to Reunion.

In September Carolyn Ross Carpentier was named director of human resources for Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA. A graduate of Suffolk University Law School, she formerly practiced law with Dailey & Associates and was also past owner of New England Family Mediation in West Bridgewater.

David Rosenthal lives and works in Palm Beach, FL, not California, as reported in the fall issue of Scope.

Last summer Carrie Grady had a great reunion-planning weekend at Skidmore with Tom Hardy and Martin Daniels. The more people who come, the more fun Reunion will be!
