Laura Finkelson Fontecchio gave birth to son Zachary in August. She and husband Nemo live in Harrison, NY.
Sarah Hoffman and Brent Pearson were married October 9. Kari McPhail Rodgers and Robin Franzblau Levy were on hand for the celebration.
Mark Paleman and wife Carrie live in West Palm Beach, FL, where Mark has left the full-time practice of law to open a real-estate services firm. He encourages anyone needing assistance with Florida real estate to contact him.
Leslie Glunts Guthrie and husband Bryan are still living in Hawaii. They’ve been settling back into life together since Bryan returned from Iraq in July.
Newlywed John Hampshire met his bride, Mary Beth, while he was teaching art at Skidmore during the summer of 1999 and she was on campus studying with the Mark Morris Dance Company. The couple, who live in Troy, NY, just adopted their fourth miniature dachshund. John presented a lecture while exhibiting his work at Georgetown University this past year. In addition to his Skidmore gig, he also teaches at Sage College of Albany and Siena College.
Sylvia Stoner Hawkins was sorry to have missed our 10th reunion this summer, but she was performing in an opera. She directed A Gilbert and Sullivan Christmas Carol for the Civic Opera of Kansas City, MO, and performed in the show Christmas in Song at the Quality Hill Playhouse throughout the holidays. Last summer, she performed the role of Marguerite in Faust for Union Avenue Opera in St. Louis.
Cicy Po and Frederik Schuele ’93 have two kids: daughter Sophie was born in November 2002, and son Emmet last July. They live in Portland, ME, but the family is preparing to move to a co-housing community in Brunswick, where Cicy hopes to start a Community Supported Agriculture farm and sell functional pottery.
John “Bones” Rodriguez can be seen on television commercials airing nationwide this year as “the McDonald’s guy.”
Travis Lea and wife Eva live in Venice, CA, where they run their own party and events production company, Project Alma. “We have taken the underground dance and artist community by storm, and things are grand in SoCal.” They recently returned from Spain and Scotland, and will be in Argentina, Uruguay, and Thailand in 2005, but say, “Look us up in LA.”
Wendy Prior Fentress reports that in September Brooke Gaffney married Patrick Redmond “in a swanky wedding in New England. The wedding rocked and was a great Skidmore reunion.” Alumni in attendance were Lloyd Falconer Burdette, Erin Keith Epker, Charlotte Riggs, Bill Feinberg, Kelly Longobardi Caruso, Margaret Langford Sweet ’93, Phoebe Hunt Smith ’95, and Erika Sweetland Morris ’92. Brooke and Patrick live in Boston. Wendy still lives in NYC.
Frits Abell has been busy with the launch of Longbank Corporate Restructuring Inc., “which has gained quite a bit of traction in under a year.” Recently he worked on a deal with Mark Bates, “a smart cookie” with the private equity firm Main Street Resources.
In October I took an amazing vacation to Germany and started my new job at Random House Children’s Books. Life is busy, but good.
